Bandits announce Mikus Vecvanags commitment to Maine

  1. September 25– The Brooks Bandits of the BCHL are thrilled to announce goaltender Mikus Vecvanags has committed to the University of Maine.

Vecvanags started his first game with Brooks on September 6th in Sherwood Park, stopping 21 of 22 shots in a 3-1 comeback win over the Crusaders.

The Montreal Canadiens 2024 Draft Pick hails from Riga, LAT, where he played for the HS Riga. The 2006-born goaltender also spent the 2023-24 season with Tukums of the Latvia2 League.

Vecvanags joins the following Bandits on the current roster committed to NCAA Division I schools:

Located in Orono, Maine, the Maine Black Bears compete in the Hockey East Conference of NCAA Division I Hockey.

The Bandits continue their pre-season on Friday, September 13th when the host the Okotoks Oilers. Game time is 7:00 pm.
