Bandits announce Johnny Hicks commitment to Tennessee State University

October 10, 2024– The Brooks Bandits of the BCHL are thrilled to announce goaltender Johnny Hicks has committed to Tennessee State University, the newest NCAA Division I team.

The 2005-born goaltender is currently in his second season with the Bandits. Hicks holds a 4-0 record this season with a 1.00 goals against average and .956 save percentage. On opening night, he made 22 saves for a 5-0 shutout win. His strong play in September earned him the BCHL Napa Auto Parts 3rd star of the Month honour.

Hicks is in his second season with Brooks, and fourth overall of junior hockey following two seasons with Merritt from 2021-23.

During the 2023-24 season with the Bandits, the Kamloops, BC native won 33 games, helping the Bandits capture the Alberta Cup and the Rocky Mountain Challenge Championships. He was named BCHL Alberta Division Second-Team All Star

He’s the 21st Bandit on the 2024-25 roster committed to NCAA Division I schools, joining:

The Bandits are back on the road tomorrow facing off against the Spruce Grove Saints at 7:00 pm. The team comes back to the CRA on Saturday, October 12th to host the Prince George Spruce Kings at 7:00 pm.
